Maharashtrians
are by and large, meat eaters. The cuisine includes
subtly flavoured vegetarian delicacies and hot,
aromatic meat and fish curries.Kokum, most commonly
used in an appetizer-digestive called the sol
kadhi, is served chilled. All non-vegetarian and
vegetarian dishes are eaten with boiled rice or
with bhakris, which are soft rotis made of rice
flour. Special rice puris called vada and amboli,
which is a pancake made of fermented rice, urad
dal, and semolina, are also eaten as a part of
the main meal. Some of the famous dishes include:
Kothimbir Vadi, Batatawada,
Pau Bhaji, Besan Ka Pithla, Bharleli Vangi, Pandhra
Rassa,
Kolhapuri Ghost Ka Rassa,Papletchi Amti, Konkani

AURANGABAD |
|
Aurangabad is located 630m above sea level and
is also the district headquarters of Aurangabad
district. It's easy to see why many travellers
regard Aurangabad as little more than a convenient
place to kill time on the way to Ellora and Ajanta
caves. First impressions seem to confirm its reputation
as an industrial metropolis yet, given a little
effort, this northern Maharashtrian city can yield
compensations for its architectural shortcomings.
